Rodrico (High Chaparral) capped off a great season for Curraghmore with a win at Rotorua on Saturday.
It was pleasing to see the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained five-year-old return to the winner's circle when successful in the feature of the day, the Taumarunui Gold Cup (2200m).
To Rodrico's credit, it is a testament of his constitution to be able to return to New Zealand and regain some of the form which had him as a progressive stayer in Australia for Chris Waller before he was exported to Hong Kong.
Bred in partnership by Roncon, Chelsaus and Wynaus, Rodrico was sold out of Curraghmore's 2014 New Zealand Bloodstock draft for $235,000 when purchased by bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster.
The other highlight of the weekend was seeing Mighty Boss (Not A Single Doubt) gallop between races at Caulfield.
Mick Price has his $180,000 New Zealand Bloodstock purchase gearing up for the spring and will target several features including the Toorak and Memsie Stakes.
