Curraghmore graduate Tulip got her racing career off to a perfect start winning the open juvenile event at Moonee Valley on New Year's Eve and in doing so she provided her sire Pierro with his first winner.
Prepared by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig Tulip was a well backed favourite in the and she won accordingly.
Drawn a little awkwardly, Tulip was eased back at the start to settle at the rear by Craig Williams before circling the field to race clear and win the 1000 metre scamper by nearly two lengths in a dominant display.
"She's certainly one of our better two-year-olds," said Dabernig.
"She has a fantastic action and she's a lovely filly.
Tulip was purchased by BBA Ireland and Lindsay Park Racing out of Curraghmore's 2016 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale draft for $400,000.
Stakes goals are on the horizon for Tulip, who is entered for the $A1.5 million Gr.1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes on February 25.
"She's in the Blue Diamond so will run in either the Preview or Prelude," said Dabernig.
A half-sister to Group Three winner Sacred Eye, Tulip was foaled and raised at Coolmore and is the fourth winner from Group Three-winning Rock of Gibraltar mare Musidora.
