Karen Fursdon is keeping an eye on the weather before confirming a trip south for her new boarder.

The Matamata trainer has taken over the preparation of the multiple winner Rocknrolla, with a switch of stables made to facilitate the next stage of her career.

Rocknrolla will be served in the coming weeks and she was transferred to Fursdon from the Ruakaka stable of Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs to be nearer the heart of the breeding industry.

"The main aim is to get her in foal with some black type to enhance her pedigree," she said. "Once the warmer weather arrives everything will fall into cycle and she'll be going to Shocking."

The former Melbourne and Australian Cup winner stands at Rich Hill Stud, and Rocknrolla's connections may get the opportunity to bank their service fee straight from the farm on Saturday.

Providing track conditions are suitable, Rocknrolla will head south to Hawera for the Gr.3 Rich Hill Stud Taranaki Breeders' Stakes.

"I'm really happy with her, but I am a bit worried about the weather," Fursdon said.

Rocknrolla made her first appearance from her new quarters when unplaced at Pukekohe in the Listed Karaka Classic.

"Donna and Chris told me that she's got no worries with a wet track, but she hates it puggy," Fursdon said.

"That's what happened at Pukekohe – the rain went around and it dried out to be puggy."

However, Rocknrolla took no harm from the outing and she has thrived ahead of a possible first trip to the central districts.

"She's doing everything right and her work has been absolutely super," Fursdon said. – NZ Racing Desk.
